GetJar is the biggest download site for mobile Java games and apps with over 40,000 of them. I was never able to figure out how to use GetJar with the Universal App Loader but BoostApps reader vurt did. It's actually quite easy.
- Install the UCWEB 6.7 browser if you haven't already. Get it here.
- Be sure UCWEB's User-Agent is set to Openwave. Press the Left Soft Key (labeled "Menu"), choose " Set", then "System Settings", then "User Agent" and pick "Openwave" from the drop-down (first image below). Press the left soft-key ("Save).
- Go to m.getjar.com useing UCWEB.
- On the GetJar home page (second image, below), choose Motorola and then find a game you like and press the Download button (image, above).
- On the next wierd looking page press the Left Soft-key ("menu"), choose "Tools", then "Page Properties" (3rd image, below) . Scroll down to the Page URL to highlight it.
- Press Left Softkey ("Menu") again and choose " Tools", then "Copy".
- Scroll down to "Select Link" and press the left softkey ("OK")
- Press the Left Soft-key ("Menu"), Choose "Window", then "New Window"
- Open the BoostApps.com and open the "Universal App Loader".
Click in the Loader's "Enter JAR or JAD URL" text-box. Press the the phone Menu key (not the left soft-key labeled "Menu") and choose Paste. Press OK. - Press the Upload File button (4th image, below) and follow the prompts to download or send the app to your phone.

How long is this suppose to take to download?
Motorolla i686 "Receiving Data UCWEB67LoEN.lic" for more than 12 hours now.
Ah, canceled and restarted twice and finally got it in about five minutes. Used FM radio interference to verify signal data receive. Thanks anyway.
Yeah, that's a Sprint server bug that started happening a couple of months ago. Downloads should take less than 5 minutes. If if it hangs you have to restart the download in Download Apps on the phone but you don't have to do "Send to Phone" again.
Found out that a download error I was getting, (Something went wrong while sending the file to your phone. Usually this means that you did not enter a valid 10 digit Boost or Sprint/Nextel phone number.)
Had nothing to do with server.
When I entered my phone # it added a space at the end. It does this every time.
Deleted the space and all downloaded well.
are there any apps for just regular boost phones
I don't know what you mean by "regular". There are four kinds of Boost phones.
1) iDEN: Motorola i series phones with walkie talkie except for the i1 Android phone. Most of the games and apps on this site should work with these phones. Use the send to phone button to install on these phones.
2) The Motorola i1. Use the Android Market App on the phone to find and download games
3) The BlackBerry 8330 and 8350. Use the BlackBerry App World on the phone or go to http://wap.getjar.com using the phone browser to find and download games and apps. Not everything on Getjar will work but if you keep trying you will find some that do.
4) The Boost CDMA phones which include the Mirro, Juno, Incognito, Seek, Rant, Rambler, Bali, W385, KRZR and C290. To download to these phones visit http://boostapps.com with the phone's browser and click the JAD link. Or visit http://wap.getjar.com using the phone's browser and click the "Download" button. These phones are very fussy about what apps they accept so you will propably have to try a few before you find one that works
thanks dennis... are there any apps that actually work on getjar.com im using a i290 low memory phone thanks, Glen (trial and error!)
I found there is no website that just does I465. When you have a website that allows you to pick a phone, it is just for the resolution of the screen. Other than that it is trial and error. Most apps the buttons do not work or mismatched, or I465 is just to slow as allot of apps will download and install but when you click on them.... it starts to load, but nothing. One app. (can't remember which one or from which site), froze up my phone completely and I had to restart my phone and uninstall the app. Another App (again, can't remember which app or which website I found it), when I started it, all it would do was start the app. downloader app. and that was it. I assume it was trying to use it to download some resource, but that didn't work. It would just open the app. downloader like normal.
Like I said I have only found 2 that sort of work. Some Beer themed game from one of the other sites. The way the buttons were mapped though made it impossible to play on a regular basis. You really couldn't keep up with the game. So there that went. The other app mentioned here minus the mismatched buttons (which as long as you remember what they are is not a big deal), the Craig's List thing, works, but is a very basic app.
Point is, I assume this is what Dennis does. Just try different apps and games and if one works, great and he posts it for download directly here. Even if it is just for phones like the I9 etc. But the amount of apps i am sure he tries out to get one that works i am sure is astonishing. Dennis can correct me on this. Trial and Error I say.
If anybody finds any games or apps minus what Dennis already posted here that works on the i465, please share here. on the rare times I have to look, I will.
You are right, trial and error is what I had to do to find the apps I've posted here. Lots and lots of trial and error. About one in three apps I try work at all, one in ten work perfectly. Incidentally, the site that I seem to have the best luck finding things that work on is Gamejump. Of course everything on Gamejump is ad-supported.
Right now I'm working on adding a forum and other features to BoostApps to make it easier for users to share and discuss apps and games that work.
i have tried to load several apps onto my i465 and they load and install but none of them are working. maybe there is another site out there that handles jad or jar apps for the i465?
Found a Get Jar apps that actually works. If anybody wants to try this and confirm. I have a Boost i465 clutch and here is what I did. Now I use Opera the PC based version. I don't think it matters what OS. and the website which doesn't show up well in Firefox and makes Google Chrome go nuts actually works. Never tried IE.
So I was just looking at whatever apps are available to see which ones would work on a phone that was closest to my resolution which was a VX something that was listed here to use and came across a app that allows you to search Craig's list, and it does work and is reasonably fast.
How it works is by caching stuff server side. Now there is versions for certain countries I used the US version.
There are some button that are not mapped correctly but I figured it out. The Right button = the left button, the menu button = the right button and the call button = the center ok button. Otherwise all other buttons work. On the screen they are numbered, so press the alt key and the corresponding number like I would use if I was typing numbers in a text and it works. Now it does take a second to make a selection but it loads fast and minus a work here or there which can be made out anyway which gets partially cut off, everything fits in screen and is readable. Now some times it also takes a second to load next part of a page with the green dot flash loading things at the bottom but that is ok.
Now this does require data, and also even if you are just looking at a page, if you go through a tunnel or something where you loose signal, the app will loose signal automatically.
Also it is very basic. So like for certain cities where on the web based PC version of Craig's list you can be specific and look at a specific part of a city not just the city as a whole, or even filter by price or date, here you can't do that. This is just a basic search pulling up the latest entry in a city in general of a particular state.
But all categories on Craig's list are there from jobs, to personals, to cars to housing, etc. Inc. some of the sub categories as well.
Please let me know if it works or not. The app is actually something Craig's list I can not remember off hand and it was like 150k approximately.
Again let me know what you think, especially Dennis if you think this is usefull and worthy of posting here minus the button mishaps.
ok so i downloaded ucweb but when i get to the getjar site it doesnt reconize my phone. even after selecting motorola i keep get redirected to the phone not reconized screen. i own an i465.
I've noticed that too. I think UCWEB's cookie handling is a little flaky. I find that I have to pick Motorola every time I visit GetJar and also after every search. But it works with the App Loader and right now it's the only mobile browser that does.
WoW.. Tanx alot denis.. it took me a while to learn howda do it.. Tanx Alot! BTW are there any Good Browser apps on getjar you recommend for the i465?
