A class schedule app for students. Lets you set up your class schedule for Monday through Friday, 8AM - 6PM.

The name of this app is "TimetableForBS" and the author aparently made it for his friend "BS". Do not load "Preset Table" as it's BS's schedule and you'll have to clear out all the time slots one by one before you can add your own classes.

Displays the current moon phase (new, full, half, etc.), moon age, distance from the earth, latitude and longitude and zodiac sign. Seems accurate except for the latitude and longitude which appears to be invalid (longitude is greater than 180 degrees, I don't think that's possible).

It takes quite awhile to retrieve you calendar at start up and when switching from one day to the next but works well otherwise.

When you first install Gcal the key mappings and the times of existing events are wrong and the date format is the European one, dd/mm/yyyy.

To fix these press the right softkey (labeled Exit but actually options) and choose "More" (Use the green Call key as the OK button) , then choose Settings and then set date format to "mm/dd/yyyy", the timezone to -7:00 (Pacific), -6:00 (Mountain), -5:00 Central or -4:00 (Eastern)

This app has four independent timers, one for each burner on a stove. Each timer can be set for 1-999 minutes. When the time's up for each timer the app vibrates and sounds a continuous audible alarm. Yes, this is one of those rare apps where both sound and vibe work on iDEN phones.

To turn an alarm off without stopping the other timers , highlight the burner that's alarming and press the green Call key, then press the red Hangup key, then press the center OK button.

Big Clock Java ME app displays a big digital clock in choice of colors with many options.

I got a request for a big clock app that could be used in place of the default home screen. The user wanted something that showed the time and date and had a choice of analog and digital clock displays. I looked at quite a few clock apps but didn't not find anything that met all those requirements.

One of the best clock apps I did find was Big Clock which is a full screen digital clock that lets you choose the background and foreground colors and switch between 12 hour and 24 hour displays. It can also play a chime on the hour. The display adapts to fit all screen sizes.

There's an alarm function but it's not really useful on iDEN phones as it only vibrates and doesn't ring plus it doesn't work at all when the app is running in the background.

No Java app can totally replace the default home screen on iDEN phones. The best you can do is set an app to start up when the phone powers up by going to Menu > Settings > Personalize > Start Up. Also assign a softkey or arrow key to the app so you can resume it with a single key press. To assign an app to a key press Menu > Settings > Personalize. That way the app will start when you turn on the phone. You can suspend to make a call or send a text by pressing the End Call key twice and then resume it with the soft key or arrow key that you have assigned.

Keys:
5 - Help Screen listing all the keys/options
* - switch display between horizontal / vertical
# - switch display between 12 hour / 24 hour
1 - Change foreground color
3 - Change background color
5 - Toggle chimes on/off
9 - Exit the app

Sunclock, a free mobile java world time app. Version for phones with 128px wide screens.

Sunclock (by the author of Weather) is a world clock app that shows the current time in five cities of your chosing along with a world map with an overlay showing which which parts of the world are in sunlight or darkness.

Sunclock has several advantages over #!Globaltime. It's easier to set up, doesn't truncate city names and shows more cities at once. I think it looks nicer too.

When you first install Sunclock the time will be wrong and city names and times will overlap. Both issues are easy to fix.

To set the time you have to assign your location as the Home city:

Press the right softkey (labeled search) and enter the name of the nearest sizable city in your time zone and press Query. Then highligh your city and press the left softkey (labeled "Select"). Highlight "Main - Budapest" and choose "Replace". On the next screen press the left softkey (labeled "OK") and the times should be correct. Use the same process to replace the other four cities to ones you prefer.

To fix the overlapping labels:

Press the menu key and change the Font size to Small.

You might also want to change the Time format to 12h in the same menu.
