Virtual Radio, free streaming music app for Boost CDMA and other Java phones

This Internet radio app works quite well on my Motorola Rambler. Comments indicate it works on the Seek and Incognito too. I don't know what other Boost phones it works on. I tried it on a Motorola i776 and it installs and starts but I couldn't get it to play anything. If you try it on a phone other than the Rambler and it works, please leave a comment so I can update this post.

Publisher's description: VirtualRadio connects to the Internet through your mobile phone operator's network and links to more than 1500 radio stations from all over the world... To optimize the user experience for regular Java phones, VirtualRadio Java version contains channels with a low bandwidth only (max. 32kbps). VirtualRadio Free runs on most common Java phones (but also on Symbian Smartphones)! As there are countless different Java phones in use, we are unable to tell exactly where VirtualRadio will work or not. Just try it out, it is free!

Keys: Softkeys don't work on the Rambler. Use arrow keys to navigate, OK to select, End Call key to exit

A utility for working with MP3 files on the phone. Supports cutting files to make ringtones from part of a song, joining files, moving files editing and deleting ID tags (artist, tittle, albumn etc.)

MP3 Tools probably only works with Boost phones that have a memory card and only with mp3s on the card. On a Motorola Ramble it fails to install with a security error. On a Motorola i776 it installs and runs but doesn't list any files.

arnold040 reports that MP3 tools works on his Motorola i580. He can delete files, including ones that aren't in the Music folder but renaming doesn't work,

The app "MP3 Tools" (28 KB) is ready to download or send to your phone as filename:"MP3Tools".

This is a MP3 Music Player that works on the Incognito. It may also work on other iDEN and CDMA Boost phones that have memory card. It installs and runs on the Motorola Rambler but doesn't work because the phone doesn't support a memory card and 3rd party apps aren't allowed to access internal file system of any Boost phone.

According to BoostApps Forum member imagine126 who found it on GetJar, LPlayer, unlike the built in Incognito music player, has a shuffle mode and can play in the background.

One quirk of LPlayer is that all music files have to be in a single folder or it will not work at all.

A simple music player app that should work on most iDEN phones. Good sound quality. It plays 12 classical concertos and also displays the current time. There doesn't seem to be any way to add to tunes.

If the app hangs displaying "loading file"; suspend it by press the red "End Call" key, then press the "OK" key to resume the app and then press the 1 or 2 key.

Guitar playing BoostApps reader War Machine discovered this app and recommends it for all guitarists. It's an app and game that helps you learn the notes on the fretboard for the guitar and other stringed instruments like the banjo or bass. It also has a guitar tuner.

This a demo. It doesn't expire but some of the features are limited:

Only the first 7 frets can be used.

The training mode can only be used for 3 minutes per session.

The game mode is limited to the first 4 levels.

Statistics and preferences aren't saved between sessions.

However the tuner is fully functional

Here's something people have been requesting forever here on BoostApps, a streaming Internet Radio app that actually works on Boost iDEN and Nextel phones. I've tried over a dozen radio apps and never managed to find one that worked on my i776.

The wait is over thanks to BoostApps reader Lise, who found iRadio on GetJar and got it working on her i856. Lise was kind enough to share her find with us.

iRadio has a directory over offer 500 stations which you can browse or search for a particular type of music like hip hop or classical.

According to Lise, on the i856 it takes several minutes to load the list of stations and a couple more to begin playing the selected station, but it does actually work and the sound is good.

I never managed to get iRadio to play anything on my i776. The program did install and run. But it took nine minutes to load the station list. After I picked a station I waited another 40 minutes but it never started playing. The i856 and i9 have a much faster processor and twice as much memory as the other iDEN phones. I suspect that iRadio will only work on the i9 and i856
