iRadio

Here's something people have been requesting forever here on BoostApps, a streaming Internet Radio app that actually works on Boost iDEN and Nextel phones. I've tried over a dozen radio apps and never managed to find one that worked on my i776.

The wait is over thanks to  BoostApps reader Lise, who found iRadio on GetJar and got it working on her i856. Lise was kind enough to share her find with us.

iRadio has a directory over offer 500 stations which you can browse or search for a particular type of music like hip hop or classical.

According to Lise, on the i856 it takes several minutes to load the list of stations and a couple more to begin playing the selected station, but it does actually work and the sound is good.

I never managed to get iRadio to play anything on my i776. The program did install and run. But it took nine minutes to load the station list. After I picked a station I waited another 40 minutes but it never started playing. The i856 and i9 have a much faster processor and twice as much memory as the other iDEN phones. I suspect that iRadio will only work on the i9 and i856

  1. Would this app work on a CDMA phone like a Sanyo Juno?

    • Other users have reported that it doesn't work on the Juno.

  2. Rawr, this is such a tease on my i465. It appeared to work properly, but after hitting play, goes to buffering....... then comes back to Ready. Oh well, I'll probably be getting one of the android based boost phones in the near future anyway.

  3. im having trouble with the iradio app. i have the motorola clutch i475. i cant load any stations on my phone or even put any in. are there any suggestions as to how i can go about this?

    • It either works or it doesn't. There are no secrets to getting it working, it depends on the phone's capabilites. iRadio doesn't seem to work on most iDEN phones.

  4. i find alot that work on my boost.... Just no radio apps :(

  5. none of the apps work on the juno so far if anyone finds any that work let me know.

  6. I have a sanyo mirro 8300 and I cant download hardly any apps on my phone. can u tell me what exactly I can download as far as games and music. not ringtones but full length songs. I have money on my accnt but I cant download anything I am interested in. I cant even play the games that were already in the apps. I really feel like Im getting ripped off. Can you help me figure out if its just this type of phone or what the deal is with downloads even from the boostapps.

  7. Did anyone get this app to work on their INCOGNITO?

    • Not that I know of, and several Incognito users have reported that it doesn't work on their phones.

    • I used the VRadio application on my Sanyo INCOGNITO; it works great! It is a free download

  8. I have the same phone and it does the same thing. Does it work for anybody?

    • Same phone as? Which phone is that?

  9. can we get the i raido to work or a nother one that works with all boost phones

    • I don't think so. The only reason iRadio is here at all is because it's the only free radio app that I or anyone else has found that even partially works on any Boost phone.

    • Does that mean there is a pay app that works?

    • I don't know of any off hand. Are there any on boostmobile.com?

    • Nothing on Boost mobile. I can't believe that they claim that the innuendo has an enhanched Mp3 player. Enhanched from what?

  10. I have an i856 and my phone wont load list of songs. It says loading for a minute or 2 and stops with a blank list.

  11. sir.give me activation code for face warp.my imei is.[removed].tall me code .[email address removed]

    • Sorry, I never heard of Face Warp and I don't have unlock codes for it. You need to contact the vendor of the app to get the unlock code.

  12. Anyone know of a radio app that works with the almost useless innuendo? I love the texting on this phone but the music player is the worst ever.

  13. i have and sanyo incognito how do i get this radio on my phone?

    • I don't know if it will work or not on the Incognito but the way to install it is to visit this page with the phone browser and click the JAD link

  14. What can i download on my boost sanyo

    • Most of the apps here on BoostApps should work on the Juno.

  15. Can i download a radio or music to my boost sanyo juno phone

    • I haven't heard of any radio apps working on the Juno but there are a bunch you could try on GetJar.

  16. Is all the boost moble stuff free tell me more please

    • Everything on this site is free.

  17. help me with activation code for iradio

    • I don't think anyone has figured out out to get the activation code and the author's site seems to be down.

  18. Cant listen to live podcast or the archived audio.can i get somethin that will work, but @ no cost?

    • I haven't found an Interret radio app that works reliably on iDEN Boost phones. If you have a CDMA Boost phone there are lots of them to try on GetJar, Mobilerated and elsewhere. If you find one that works let me know so I can post it here.

  19. Help me get music on my phone

    • What phone is that?

  20. I have the sanyo juno with boostmobile and this app would not work on my phone. Just wanted to let anyone else with this phone aware. no questions here! :)

  21. Maybe this would help a lot of Samsung Seek users. Iradio doesn't work to well on the Seek. But being that the Seek has an MP3 player, you can download music without a USB cable. You need the Opera Mini 5.1 or the Bolt Browser 2.5. You can download them directly from their mobile sites. Please send me a message if you want any more info.

    • are there any websites that i can download free music onto the seek
,i do have iradio and it works, i just cant figure out the stations.

    • I don't have a seek but if you use Opera Mini or the Bolt browser you should be able to download .mp3s from any free music site that has them and save them on the memory card.

Amazon.com has hundreds of free legal music downloads at: http://www.amazon.com/Free-Songs-Music/b?ie=UTF8&node=334897011 and the downloads work in Opera Min on my i1.

    • you said that i can download music from my phone. how? i downloaded the bolt browser. what do i do from there

    • I don't have the Seek, but this works on other phones and should work with the Seek.
      1. Use Bolt to go to your favorite MP3 download site. http://mobile.artistserver.com is an easy to use one with lots of free legal music.
      2. Find a track you want to download, click the MP3 link
      3. Choose Save, then choose "Memory Card" or "E", then choose the "Music" folder
      4. Click where it says "Save in folder..." at the top of the screen. Wait for the download to finish
      5. Go to the Media Player and enjoy your music

  22. Well, I was able to get a little farther with this iradio code, with a problem. I located Dr. Hu at CNet. Got an email for another application. He finally emailed me back. He said to go to the site(www.wimolife.com). Then click on (I need the activation code)He has relocated everything there looks like. I not computer saavy , but there lots of options for diff. things. the two that looked liked they applied to iradio were: streaming radio, or maybe J2me activation code, and j2me source code sell. I assume its one of the first 2 but when I click on streaming radio or j2me activation code, it gives me this fatal error everytime.
FATAL ERROR: Cannot break/continue1 level in/home/and hat/wimolife.com/graphcount.php on line 39. Needless to say, this is way over my head! But its a start. i have a new window 7 toshiba laptop, so i'm assuming its not my computer. Post back if you figure this one out. Dr hu takes about a week or so to email you back and is a man of few words. LOL Thanks, Tony

  23. When I go to the site (www.drhu.org), it just says no connection and wont go to the site. Is there another site to possible try and access the IRadio code for the I9 phone. Could anyone with an I9 or I856 that was able to get the IRadio code to work possible help with this information? I know you have to pay for this app, but I cant even get the site to come up.

  24. i can get the radio station to play on my I856 phone what i'm i doing wrong

    • If you read the comments you would see that many people have trouble with iRadio. It's not you it's the app.

  25. Does it work to any nokia phone?.i try to d0wnload,but it says audio doesnt support..what should i do?.

    • I don't think any app works with every Nokia. If iRadio says your phone's audio isn't support then it won't work.

  26. I have the SANYO cell phone and this app will not work with my phone or open at all do boost mobile have any app this cell phone!!

    • This site is targeted at the Boost iDEN series phones (Motorola iNNN models). Apps here are only tested on iDEN device. Never the less some have been reported to work on Boost CDMA phones like your Sanyo. If you keep trying I'm sure you will find some that work.

Also, unlike the iDEN phones which can only download from here and BoostMobile.com, CDMA models can download from sites. Two good ones are:
      http://wap.getjar.com/
      http://mobilerated.com/wap/

  27. what type of Bluetooth does the I465 black use and is there an upgrade app?

  28. Would this app work with a boost mobile juno

    • I don't have that phone so I don't know. Why not just try it and see?

  29. Every or often when trying 2 open a page or download something i cant.. It keeps on saying error 500 and stuff. Why? How can i fix this??

    • iRadio is very buggy and also it may not be compatible with your phone. Try again later and if it still gives you an error delete the app and move on there's no point in fighting with it.

  30. i have the new seek phone from boost nd i want to kno what free games and apps i can download nd how.. help

    • Go to Boostapps.com with the phone browser and click the JAD link. Only some apps will work, however

  31. I also have an i465 it worked for me. However my phone rang in the middle of the first song. Once I returned to app, it ask for an activation code and payment.

  32. when I try to download this on this site ony my Incognito, I get the error:
    Data Error 910
    Application Authorization Failure

    iRadio
I know that this should work on my phone, but i can't download it.

    • That error means the app is trying to use an API that is restricted to apps that are signed with a certificate that is only available to Sprint's partner developers. So it's not going to work.

  33. I have an i465. I could download, install, and run the app. I could also add a station. HOWEVER, no sound comes out and data transfer stops after a few seconds. I was not able to fetch a list of radio stations as this resulted in a malformed response error.

So yes you can run the app on an i465 but don't expect it to do anything.

  34. It may be dead now not working.

  35. It doesn't work on my i465

  36. i have a i9 and it won't load any radio stations

  37. i just downloaded and installed iradio onto my i465 and it works but i need a code and it won't play anything and it don't show anything when i load all ststions. it's blank.

    • I's not going to work: "Supported iDEN phones: i856 and i9"

  38. I dwnloaded dis app on my i856 n wen i started da function 2 load da stations n wen it wuz done loadin . . Ther were no stations . . Can any1 help

  39. works great on my i877!

  40. Will this app work on cdma phones such as boost mobile samsung ran?..if so how can i download it on my phone?

    • No one has reported whether it works on the Rant or not. Why don't you try it and let us know.

To download apps on the CDMA phones follow the instructions on the Help page.

    • It should being the Rant supports J2ME. However I wouldn't know how to load it except if there is software out there that allows you to load it. Also Download Apps is a iDEN only program. You also may be lucky to google iRadio Mobile or iRadio J2ME in your mobile browser on your phone.... It can't hurt

  41. Need to found out what the i1 will or won't do.

    • What do you mean by that? Will it run J2ME or not? I know Android 1.5 (Cupcake) doesn't have a Midlet program with it. However Google does have available a program that can convert any j2me applications (binary code) directly into android packages so that j2me MIDlet can appear in the main window of home screen and can be managed/installed/uploaded separately. However it is a work in progress and I can not guarantee how well it works. I will get back to you about this, I have to break out a i1 from my stock and play with it.

  42. There's so many stations i'm trying to listen to some hip-hop or RnB.Which ones are working for you im in Orlando FL cant get nothing out the speakers.

    • You might have the Java speaker turned off. Go to Phone Menu > Profiles > View > Edit > Volume > Java Spkr and set it to the max.

As for which stations work, I don't know because I have an i776 and none of them work. Maybe someone with an i9 or i856 who uses this app can suggest a working station. It's Internet radio not broadcast so where you are located doesn't matter.

  43. Hey do you need a set of earphones to hear this??I have the i856 and im clicking the stations but dont hear anything.

    • No it should play through the speaker. Only works on the i9 and i856 though.

    • Let me add it also work on the i680, i865 and the i890. Also give it time to buffer. iDEN isn't known for it's fast data speed and it may take up to 10 minutes to buffer depending on phone and signal strength

  44. so is there not a code?

    • If there is I don't have it.

  45. dose it load on the i465 ?

    • "Supported iDEN phones: i856 and i9"

  46. i installed the iRadio on my i290 phone. And I can`t get it to load. Can anyone help.

    • I'm pretty sure it only works on the i9 and i856.

    • The processor on the i290 is too damned slow and the i290 doesn't have enough onboard memory to buffer without lots of quiet periods. I don't recommend it. if you want to listen to it on a phone I would HIGHLY suggest you upgrade to a i890, i865, i865w, i9, i680 or get a Blackberry 8350i with the service book that allows you to have full access to the boost servers

  47. The iradio will load on my i456 but will not play

    • I got a tree and clouds but it wont play

    • works on tree but wont play. the cloud needs a code

  48. Thank you but, what's the code

    • I don't think anyone knows. If you go to the website (http://drhu.org) and scroll to the bottom of the page there is a link to request activation codes. But when you click the link it takes you to a page listing the apps that you can get codes for. But iRadio is not listed. Plus most of the codes for listed apps are not free :( .
